I photographed Swan Lake so many times I couldn't begin to count. I believe this performance with Guillaume Graffin and Julie Kent was the last one I did while working as a project photographer for ABT. I brought along a super-telephoto lense to see what would happen. I had to shoot at a very slow speed to get anything on the film but when I looked through the camera at the dancers on stage, I knew something great was going to happen. It was more like a movie than a still shoot. I've always loved the movement and emotion in this photograph and it is one of my favorites.
